An Adventure Awaits in Snowmass

Photography: Allison Moix   Words: Mundi Ross

Tucked away in Brush Creek Valley is a pure gem of a community, Snowmass Village. Founded in December of 1967 by Olympic Ski racer Bill Janns, the village has grown over the past 50 years to become a year-round family resort with a wide range of adventures awaiting the novice to expert. It's a vibrant community and we had the pleasure of experiencing Snowmass in July.

A 10-year project is nearing it's phase one completion at the base of Elk Camp Gondola and come November 2018, Snowmass Base Village will be the largest resort development in North America. The master plan includes an ice skating rink, restaurants, shopping, and a beautiful Limelight property. Aspen Snowmass maybe known for it's winters but I wouldn't skip out on enjoying the warm summer days and a playground full of adventures.

Dine:

(Pictured: Executive Chef Herb Wilson) Toro Latin Kitchen, located inside the Viceroy is operated by acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Richard Sandoval. Menu inspiration draws from Latin American flavors and the executive chef Herb Wilson executes it flawlessly. New to the culinary scene in Snowmass is pastry chef, Ronald V who hopes to put the pastry program at Viceroy on the map. "Snowmass isn't known for being a pastry town but it is my goal to change that." Our recommendation is to enjoy the patio views at Toro over coffee and breakfast.   Look for extended stories on Executive Chef Herb Wilson and Pastry Chef Ronald V in our Spring 19' issue.

Our reccomendation is the prickly pear blueberry margarita.

Anderson Ranch is a 5-acre oasis for artists both amateur and experienced. With 8 disciplines available and access to some of the best faculty, this award-winning non-profit is inspiring and encouraging creativity year round. Anderson Ranch provides a variety of different workshops, lecture series, film screenings, monthly art auctions, and more. Summer months are the most active around the ranch with kids camps running through the end of August. The cafe located on site at Anderson Ranch has become a popular destination not only for the artists in residence but for the locals as well.
